Save some money and monitor what your car is doing.
This Fiat has come to us on recommendation from another garage with a blocked DPF, now contrary to online myth they don't just go wrong, 99% of the time there is an underlying fault and it is our job to figure this out and stop it happening again. We try and do that whilst also keeping costs to a minimum for the owner.
At the end of the day all we are selling is time. Yes we have lots of expensive equipment, training, years of knowledge, parts go on vehicles, overheads etc etc. But we just sell customers our hours.
I like to run an honest business and keep customer's bills to a minimum which is why when a car is in for diagnostic or fault finding work our very first step is to question the customer and find out as much as we can about what they are experiencing with the vehicle.
Unfortunately in this case the customer hadn't registered the fact that once at cruising speed this car's temperature dropped right down indicating a faulty thermostat, which stops the DPF and other systems from functioning correctly.
How we came to this conclusion was after carrying out all of our regular tests including, diagnostic testing, visual inspections, pressure tests and leakage tests on both the exhaust and inlet system, thermal imaging testing and local road testing we ended up having to do an extended road test, adding more time meaning more expense to the job. This issue did not flag up sat stationary or doing local town traffic driving as the radiator is not exposed to high flowing air.
Now it is fully understandable and reasonable that a driver just wants to hop in the car and drive, as long as the fuel gauge shows fuel not allot else is that important. But if you start to find issues with the car it is well worth taking notice of what is happening with your vehicle. Especially the basics.
The more information we can get from you the quicker we can narrow down any fault meaning we spend less time saving you money
Also you may notice from the pic it was not even 8am and I had already covered over 20 miles, coffee was certainly in order
I apologise for the lack of updates but we have been super busy with our relocation Project.
RayTech Auto have now moved to a far bigger and better equipped facility to offer our customers the best possible solutions for all your motoring needs,
Here are a few pics of the work in progress. The place is looking good now and we are fully open but continuing our improvements.
We hope to see many of you pop by in the coming weeks
Stage 1: 405bhp & 540nm
We recently carried out our stage 1 tune and speed limiter delete on this beautiful A45 AMG. It was already a quick car, but at the same time very refined. It doesn’t have that pin you to the seat feel of the golf R but the AMG is the faster car.
Now boasting over 400bhp with no hardware modifications it has truly come alive yet has retained the subtlety under light load.
If any of you out there remember being 16 and owning a 50cc moped you will recall the planning and bravery involved in doing a simple overtake manoeuvre.
Well the owner of This Fiat van initially called to see if we could remove the limit on his Fiat Fiorino van, and in all honesty I was not sure without trying. It is the same running gear as the 1.3 cdti corsa and we have done loads of limiters on those so gave it a go. At the same time we also gave her a wee remap.
The van was originally capped at 60mph and was driving the new owner nuts when out on the motorway.
Now with the limiter removed and a 27% power increase he no longer has to hang on to his balls when attempting to overtake a lorry!

Astra GTC 2.0 CDTi
Wnt out and carried out a remap at the customers house on his beautiful Astra GTC. Not the easiest of ecu's to work on but well worth the effort. Plus it was a nice sunny day and I wasn't trapped inside the workshop for a change :)
Ok so it might sound like something that you would insert into a chicken but this Maserati is a beautiful and well thought out car.
This particular V6 turbo was no slouch out of the box and made a lovely crisp exhaust note.
Once we had carried out our stage 1 engine remap though it was a whole other animal. Pulling so much stronger in every gear and thanks to the re-calibration in the ignition timing sounds a hell of allot meaner.
'You completely transformed the way it drives' reported the customer who also mentioned that he doesn't bother using sport mode any more as Normal is more than enough.
That is the sort of feedback we love to hear
Original Power: 170bhp
Original Torque: 350nm
Stage 1 Remap
This beautiful Leon SuperCopa came to us recently for a remap, The customer already enjoyed how the vehicle drove but wanted a little but more power whilst retaining the original power curve and smoothness. He opted for our stage 1 tune and it did not dissapoint. Keeping that factory feel to the power delivery but really sharpening up the low-mid range power.
BMW 335d +55nm & 100nm
BMW 330d +45bhp & 100nm
We recently went to these two beautiful BMW 3 series to carry out performance remaps and Terraclean services.
Initially we went out to work on they grey 330d as he had heard good things about the services we offer. We were there about half an hour when his neighbour popped over to enquire what we were doing. When I explained she straight away asked if we could do her husbands 335d next as a surprise for him (although she herself is a bit of a speed nut so a gift for them both).
It also turns out that these neighbours are good friends and quite competitive with each other when it comes to their cars.
A little video of how we carry out a Terraclean fuel system service on a petrol vehicle
Bentley Continental having our 680 conversion and exhaust mods.
This GTC was fairly pokey with the 572bhp from the factory but now running secondary cat delete and a tune is pushing out 680bhp and 900nm of torque.
This is the later model, similarly to the earlier versions has 2 ECUs, both of which need fine balancing. The difference is these newer MED17 units are tuning protected meaning most people have to remove both ECUs to work on them, usual cost around £5k for tuning. However we have invested in a specialist interface to save on the man hours of the process on this particular type of setup
